I don’t know about you, but for me when it comes to packing I have so much anxiety about forgetting an essential, whether it’s for me or Ruby. No matter how early I start packing, I always have to run through my list to ensure I have everything I need before leaving the house.
This led me to develop our ultimate dog-friendly travel packing list. This Google Sheet list takes the anxiety out of preparing for a trip and is customized by the type of trip you’re taking. Are you road-tripping or flying? Will you be glamping or staying in a hotel? Is your destination warm or will there be snow? Different things are needed for different adventures and I’ve spent the past year putting this list to the test to make sure everything you need when traveling - no matter the adventure - is on it. I’ve even included luggage designations by item when packing and recommended some of our favorite products we like to travel with.

1. What format is the packing list? The list is a fully customizable Google Sheet. It’s designed to be interactive, featuring a progress tracker and filters so you can view only what you need for your specific trip.
2. Is this list suitable for air travel with a dog? Yes! The list includes an Adventure Type filter where you can select the type of trip your taking (glamping, snow, water) and the mode of transportation (flying, road trip).
3. Does it include gear recommendations for humans too? We know travel is a team sport! The list includes essential "Human Gear" like photography equipment, weather-appropriate clothing, and hiking essentials so you don't forget your own gear while focused on your pup. This is also a perfect area to customize for yourself based on what you like to pack.
4. Can I add my own items to the list? Definitely. Once you save the Google Sheet to your own Drive, it is 100% editable. You can add your dog’s specific medications, favorite toys, or unique dietary needs.
5. How does the progress tracker work? As you check off items in the "Packed" column, a built-in formula calculates your completion percentage, giving you peace of mind that nothing—from poop bags to paw balm—has been left behind.
