Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is a prime destination, with colorful blooms like desert sunflowers and verbena carpeting the desert floor. In Antelope Valley, the rolling hills of the California Poppy Reserve come alive with fields of bright orange poppies. While dogs aren’t allowed in the reserve itself, nearby trails like Arthur B. Ripley Desert Woodland State Park offer pet-friendly alternatives to soak in the beauty.
For coastal wildflowers, head to Point Reyes National Seashore, where trails like Chimney Rock feature stunning views of the Pacific alongside colorful blossoms and don’t miss walking through the iconic Cypress Tree Tunnel.
Finally, the remote beauty of Carrizo Plain National Monument is unmatched, with vast expanses of wildflowers like goldfields and tidy tips. While dogs must remain on leash, they’re welcome on roads and trails where you can immerse yourself in this vibrant floral display.
