Instagrammable Walls in Houston
A wall crawl is a great way to explore different neighborhoods around a city and the local art makes for great backdrops for your Instagram feed. Anytime we visit a new location, or even within our hometown, we always research new wall murals to track down and photograph. You can check out our San Diego and San Francisco guides for walls to explore in those cities.
When visiting Houston we were shocked to learn of all of the wall murals scattered across the city. There seems to be 100 murals spanning downtown to uptown and everywhere North and South of there, so we’ve rounded up some of our favorites to help with your wall crawl itinerary.

Downtown
Sal Creations
This fun, flooral mural can be found in the East Dristrict of downtown on the side of a funeral home. There is parking on the side of the building where this mural is located.
Visit early before the business opens and you should have no problem parking.
Where: 2516 Navigation Blvd.
The secret group’s black and white wall
This neutral wall is just down the street from the Houston Graffiti Building on the side of The Secret Group.
We visited in early morning and experienced even coverage. Due to the location of the wall, even coverage is available throughout certain points of the day.
Parking is limited on the street, but there is a lot across the street from The Secret Group’s entrance that you pop into really quick.

Hey Ya’ll
Hey Ya’ll, you’re going to want to check out this fun Southern mural at Brookfield Properties. Beyond Hey Ya’ll there are five other murals that span this property up and down McKinney Street.
There’s some landscaping right in front of this mural so you might need to get creative with angles so you can fit the full mural into your photo.
Where: 1 Allen Center and the outdoor murals run along McKinney St.

This Houston mural is one of the main attractions at the Houston Graffiti Building.
There’s street parking available and a lot in front of this mural. Find a safe place to park and walk around the area. each wall is littered with murals from corner to corner.
This building is located in a bit of a deserted area downtown where the homeless tend to hang out, so go with a friend. There are some breweries nearby if you’re looking for an afternoon activity.

HAPPY BEACH WALL
The abstract Happy Beach Wall is located in a parking lot near the baseball and soccer stadium. Parking is available right in front of wall in the lot in which the mural is located, as long as there are no events going on. Otherwise, metered parking is available street side. This means cars could be obstructed the view of the mural.
Try to go with a friend. This seemed like a somewhat unsafe part of town.
The best time for shooting is early morning to get good even light, but a cloudy day would work great to!

Midtown
Pearl marketeplace at midtown
This green checkered wall is on the backside of the Whole Foods in Midtown and stretches up the entire wall, from corner to corner.
Get creative and wear your favorite green outfit to match. We took advantage of this wall for St. Patricks and created a fun reel.
Where: 515 Elgin Street

Up close this fun pixelated wall looks like a fun, colorful Instagram backdrop, but if you cross the street and take in the whole wall you’ll see that it holds a hidden secret. There are five faces within this design that depict every day unsung heroes in Houston.
Foor parking, the Whole Foods has underground parking or you can find street parking around the corner within the neighborhood.
This mural is just around the corner from the green checkered wall above.
Where: 515 Elgin Street
dogwood flowers wall
This mural of dogwood flowers spans the walls of The Dogwood bar. There is parking available on the street near the bar and at a shopping center adjacent to the bar.
Plan to visit and shoot early in the morning before the restaurant opens. There are trees and greenery in front of the wall on the other side of the sidewalk, so you’ll need to get a little creative with angles.

Right behind Starbucks in the parking lot you can find this fun HOU mural created out of panels along the back of the building.
There’s plenty of parking in the lot and if you go early there shouldn’t be any cars obstructed the mural.

Uptown
Colorful lines mural at Edwards Greenway Grand Palace 24
This geometric mural wraps around a cinema with convenient parking right out front.
The best time too visit is before the cinema opens. You can strike a pose in front of the cinema or walk around to the West side of the building to find the most optimal spot.
