Craving a taste of the Big Apple? Head over to The Lox Bagel Shop for a bagel sandwich that rivals those from New York City. We loved this spot so much we ate here twice and were wishing we had one back in Caifornia. Dogs are welcome on their spacious patio that also features water bowls.

Spend a relaxing afternoon on the spacious patio of Northstar Cafe. Known for its commitment to quality and sustainability, this café offers fresh and wholesome meals that health-conscious diners will love. Plus, your pup can relax alongside you.
Gemüt Biergarten
Grab a pint at Gemut Biergarten, an authentic German-style beer garden featuring a spacious, covered patio. This spot is perfect for enjoying craft beers in a laid-back setting with a large pretzel and snitzel on the side.
Katalina’s
Don’t miss the chance to try the infamous pancake balls at Katalina’s. These delightful treats are a must-try, we loved the nutella filling. Each location also fun wall murals on the exterior of their cafes with dog waterbowls on the patios.
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams
End your day on a sweet note with a visit to Jeni’s Ice Cream. Known for its unique and tasty flavors, this ice cream shop is a treat for both you and your dog, with some locations offering dog-friendly frozen treats too. Jeni’s got its start in Columbus and is now known as a national brand.

Nestled on the southern edge of downtown Columbus and connected to the Scioto Mile is the Scioto Audubon Metro Park. This 120-acre park is not just a treat for the eyes with its lush landscapes and birdwatching opportunities, but it’s also a canine haven with its expansive dog park. Imagine your pup bounding over to make friends at one of the most spacious and popular off-leash areas in the city. And while your furry friend socializes, you can enjoy the rock climbing wall or relax by the peaceful wetlands.
Located in the heart of the Short North Arts District, Goodale Park is a vibrant space where your dog can enjoy off-leash play in designated areas. The park’s lovely ponds and walking paths make for a peaceful stroll.
The Columbus Park of Roses is nestled within the serene Clintonville neighborhood. This blooming sanctuary boasts over 350 different varieties of roses, making it one of the most extensive public rose gardens in the country.
The park offers ample walking paths, benches, and photo opportunities making it a perfect spot for an afternoon outing. Plus, there’s plenty of grassy areas to enjoy for a picnic.
Explore the vibrant Short North Arts District, where many shops and galleries welcome dogs on leashes. Wander through eclectic boutiques, and perhaps find art that speaks to your heart while your dog enjoys the friendly atmosphere. This area boasts several wall murals along High Street and one of our favorite shops was Artisan De Luxe.
Stroll through the cobblestone streets of German Village, a charming neighborhood that feels like a step back in time. Many of the local shops and cafes cater to pets, providing a perfect setting for a relaxed morning or afternoon. I’d plan to spend half a day walking around this area and starting your visit at Stauf’s. They have some delicious coffee, and I’m a pretty hard judge when it comes to Chai Lattes. This location has a spacious outdoor patio or you can take your coffee to go.
As you wander through the quaint streets, make sure to pick up some indulgent buckeyes at Winans—they’re a local favorite! If you’re a book lover, pop into The Book Loft, one of the cutest bookstores you’ll find, and browse their extensive collection. Then head over to The Red Stable for a unique souvenir or cute photo op in front of the shop.
Make your way to Schiller Park for a leisurely stroll, where your dog will love sniffing around the beautiful open spaces and maybe making a few four-legged friends. This is such a charming neighborhood!
