How to Throw a Dog Birthday Party

Love this roundup — especially the reminder about keeping human snacks up high (learned that one the hard way 🙃).

For the “birthday hat” part: I’ve had better luck with lightweight crowns vs tall cone hats for dogs that shake a lot. My corgi tolerated a little glitter crown for the full cake/photos portion, and it didn’t bother her ears.

If anyone needs a CPSIA-tested option, this is the one we used: https://www.ginyouglobal.com/p/glitter-dog-birthday-crown/

I did this for my corgi last month (5th birthday, tiny backyard, 9 dogs total) and the hat part was weirdly the hardest thing to get right. First set I bought had a scratchy chin strap and Biscuit kept pawing it off in 30 seconds.

I switched to a CPSIA-tested crown from GINYOU and it sat much better for photos, especially for short sessions between treat breaks. Not perfect, but way less drama. If anyone needs it, this is the one I used: https://www.ginyouglobal.com/p/glitter-dog-birthday-crown/

Your checklist on treats + space planning is spot on — wish I saw this before I bought way too many props 😅

I used your checklist last weekend for my corgi’s birthday at our local dog park—6 dogs showed up, plus way too many squeaky toys. The hat tip was spot on. I kept one backup hat for each dog because two pups always shake them off in minute one. We ended up using this dog birthday crown and it stayed on better for photos: https://www.ginyouglobal.com/p/glitter-dog-birthday-crown/ Not perfect, but way less chaos than last year.

I did this for my corgi Biscuit last fall, small backyard setup with 6 dogs, one kiddie pool, and too many treats. Fast lesson from my mistake: take hat photos in the first 10 minutes. After that, the strings get chewed. We switched to a soft glitter crown and got the group photo done: https://www.ginyouglobal.com/p/glitter-dog-birthday-crown/ This guide is honestly very close to what worked for us.
