Photoshoot Inspiration

Do you all remember this newborn photoshoot spoof from 2016? I saw it and totally related. Like this couple, I was constantly asked about marriage and children in my 20s and early 30s and have had years of practice in crafting my response as to why it’s not for me and I just prefer being a dog mom.

At the time of this inspiration, we had just put a deposit down to secure Rue, so I kept this idea in the back of my mind for when she would finally arrive in October.

Photoshoot Scene

Like most newborn photoshoots, I wanted to do the session in our home in St. Louis and even bought a personalized “Ruby” baby blanket to swaddle Rue in. We posed in the usual baby holding positions, but Rue was not a fan of laying on her back or having her front paws swaddled in the blanket.

Our photographer specializes in dog photography, but has also done human newborn photoshoots and brought a basket with filling along as an additional prop. I was so glad she did because to this day these are still some of my all time favorite photos of Rue.
